Purpose / Eligibility / Dues and Fees

PurposeThe primary objective of the national Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi is the recognition and encouragement of superior scholarship in all academic disciplines. The Society is convinced that in recognizing and honoring those persons of good character who have excelled in scholarship, in whatever field, it will stimulate others to strive for excellence. Moreover, the Society serves the interests of the student capable of excellence by insisting that in order to acquire a chapter of Phi Kappa Phi, an institution provide the means and atmosphere conducive to academic excellence.

EligibilityMembers of The Citadel Chapter of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi are selected from undergraduate students including cadets, students from the Marine and Navy Enlisted Commissioning Programs and evening students from the College of Graduate and Professional Studies, graduate students, faculty members and alumnus.

Undergraduate students who rank scholastically in the upper 4 percent of the junior class or in the upper 8 percent of the senior class will be selected as members. In order to qualify, graduate students must have attained a 3.5 GPR during their undergraduate career and a 4.0 in graduate classes at The Citadel. Members of the faculty whose professional records have rendered them worthy of membership may be extended invitations to join. An occasional honorary or distinguished member among alumnus may be elected by a chapter, with the approval of the Board of Directors.

Dues and Fees

• Initiation Fee
  The initiation fee is forty-five dollars ($45.00), which includes national dues for the current year, a certificate of membership, a choice of emblem (pin, charm, or tie tack), and a one-year subscription to the National Forum and the Newsletter.
• Dues
  National dues (renewal) are $30/year. Dues for Chapter 212 are $8/year (optional).
