Bio
Dr. Berlinghieri is an educator, scholar, mentor, academic leader. He is an impassioned, dedicated, and knowledgeable educator who has served The Citadel for 45 years. He received the Grimsley Award for Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching, the highest recognition given to a Citadel faculty member. Dr. Berlinghieri successfully recruited highly qualified, world-class faculty to the Physics Department. He was instrumental in making major revisions to the curriculum, assessment, tenure and promotion guidelines. He established the aeronautics program benefiting students who desire to become pilots, and has been successful in raising funds to address equipment and instrumentation needs of the Physics Department. He championed many STEM outreach events educating the public about physics and enhancing the reputation of The Citadel as a STEM educational institution. Dr. Berlinghieri has served as Chair of the Faculty Council, Chair of the Research Committee, Chair of the Faculty Tenure and Promotion Committee and College Marshall.
