Graduate training high school students in biodiesel lab
The Chemistry Department is honored to celebrate the success of one of its graduates. William Epps earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry in 2016 followed by a master’s in degree in STEM education in 2021. Epps is now the head of the chemistry program at Blythewood High School in Columbia, where he campaigned for the Bengal Biodiesel Lab that opened in March of 2022. The new lab is designed to train students in the skills needed to work in a laboratory environment through the production and analysis of biodiesel. This training, Epps says, enables students to thrive in entry-level STEM careers.
