SHSS initiatives and plans
As the School of Humanities and Social Sciences prepares for a new home, other initiatives and plans are in the works. New agreements with the University of South Carolina School of Law and Mercer University School of Law are laying a foundation to support the application and admission of Citadel graduates.
In accordance with updated best practices, major renovations are being made to the modern language major. At the same time, as study abroad programs continue to attract the interest of our students, we continue to expand our offerings. To that end, SHSS Dean Brian Jones and Study Abroad Director Zane Segle traveled to France in June to consider new opportunities.
We are proud to announce that English Professor Michael Livingston was named a fellow in the prestigious Royal Historical Society. To our knowledge, he is the only Citadel professor to achieve this honor.
SHSS ended the 2022-2023 academic year with an awards ceremony in May recognizing teaching and service excellence. The school will begin the new academic year with an art exhibition of combat artists in the new fine art spaces in Capers Hall.
