Students recognized for academic excellence
At the January 26 awards parade, more than 650 cadets and veteran students who earned a grade point ratio of 3.7 or higher were presented with Gold Star pins for academic excellence. Gold Stars may be worn on a cadet’s uniform in the semester following the academic achievement. In addition to the pins, veteran students who achieve Gold Stars are recognized with a black blazer and a challenge coin. For a complete list of students who earned Gold Stars, go to The Citadel Today.
In addition to Gold Stars, students who achieved a 3.20 or higher GPR for 12 or more semester hours were named to Dean’s List. Cadets named to Dean’s List received a medal, which is worn on their uniform during the semester following their academic achievement. Non-cadet students on the Dean’s List were presented a certificate. A list of students named to Dean’s List is published on The Citadel Today.
One of the most distinguished cadet awards presented at The Citadel is President’s List, which indicates excellence in academics and military duties. The list is a combination of the Dean’s List and the Commandant’s Distinguished List and is composed of cadets who contribute the most to their companies while maintaining excellent military and academic records. A list of cadets awarded this honor can be found on The Citadel Today.
