Nursing professor recognized for excellence in teaching
On March 22, Ashley Bukay, Ph.D., received the Excellence in Nursing Education Award at the University of South Carolina College of Nursing Annual Leadership Summit.
“Dr. Bukay teaches medical-surgical nursing in both the clinical and classroom setting. She excels in breaking complex nursing content into simple concepts that support student learning,” wrote Kim Subasic, Ph.D., who serves as head of the Swain Department of Nursing. “Dr. Bukay goes beyond the expectations of her teaching role to build our next generation of nurses. She devotes her time to conduct mock job interviews, to assist with resume writing, to guide student-led research projects, and to support the student that is feeling the stress of nursing education.”
Bukay began her nursing career in 2011, working primarily in adult cardiac and vascular surgery areas. A native of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, she has been at The Citadel since 2021.
