School of Engineering celebrates new national #18 ranking
In new rankings released by U.S. News & World Report, the School of Engineering was ranked #18 Best Undergraduate Engineering nationwide (non-doctoral).
This new ranking reflects the excellence of the School of Engineering’s award-winning, nationally recognized faculty and the visionary leadership of their faculty, staff, and alumni.
A visit from Clemson
On September 26, Melissa Smith, Ph.D., professor of electrical and computer engineering and associate dean of graduate studies at Clemson University, spoke to engineering students about The Citadel and Clemson University joint 4+1 master’s program in bioengineering, automotive engineering and industrial engineering.
Engineering Expo
In partnership with the Career Center, the School of Engineering hosted an engineering expo on October 7. The expo, which boasted over 50 companies, was followed by an Evening with Industry Night that allowed platinum and gold-level sponsors to meet and speak with students.
Mechanical Engineering Advisory Board meeting
The Mechanical Engineering Advisory Board held its fall meeting on October 11. Board members met to discuss departmental and School of Engineering updates, including the strategic plan. Advisory board members and mechanical engineering faculty also enjoyed lunch with mechanical engineering students.
Presentation from president of Heliplanners
Jeff Wright, president of Heliplanners, presented to the civil and construction capstone class. The capstone focuses on designing an advanced air mobility vertiport for the Jim Hamilton – LB Owens Airport in Columbia. The vertiport will allow aircraft to take off vertically from the ground.
Leadership Day with the School of Engineering
At The Citadel’s Class of ’79 Leadership Day, electrical engineering students visited Nexans, one of the world’s largest cable producers, at their office in Goose Creek, and spoke with spoke with Eddie Ennis, ’79.
