Notes from Engineering
On February 7, The Citadel recognized Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering Ron Hayne with the Faculty Excellence in Teaching Award. Hayne and other honored faculty were invited to participate in the Friday afternoon dress parade. The Faculty Excellence in Teaching Award is presented to a faculty member who is an outstanding scholar and professor. Hayne was recognized for his curriculum development and dedication to the computer engineering program, which he serves as program director.
On February 2, senior cadets, veterans, active-duty and evening students came together to join the esteemed Order of the Engineer. Established in 1970, the Order of the Engineer is an association for graduating and professional engineers that emphasizes the importance and responsibility of engineers. Former Electrical and Computer Engineering Department Head John Peeples, ’70, gave the keynote address, and students from every department recited the oath. Students were then presented with their rings by department heads.
