Notes from Engineering
Senior civil engineering cadets along with faculty members toured the Jim Hamilton – LB Owens Airport in Columbia, S.C., as a part of their capstone senior design project focused on advanced air mobility infrastructure. Cadets were briefed on the history and current growth potential of the airport. The meeting was capped off with an address by the airport’s namesake, Jim Hamilton.
On September 11, Assistant Professor Sylmarie Dávila-Montero’s senior design students began initial presentations for their senior design projects. The six design groups represented a variety of projects, including an unground power model, a model railroad based in the Charleston area, an electronic shuffle scorer, an electric fishing reel, an inventory system for the department’s labs, and PM sensors for the Emmett Davis Department of Civil, Environmental and Construction Engineering.
The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department is proud to announce that the computer engineering program has officially been accredited through the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. The program underwent an initial accreditation evaluation in October 2023.
