Woof Wednesday
The Daniel Library hosted two Woof Wednesday events in September, bringing to campus a pack of furry friends and their handlers that included a Labrador retriever, an English bulldog, a whippet, a standard poodle and a Yorkshire terrier.
Inspired by the popular end-of-semester event Doggy Day that has been bringing well-trained therapy dogs from Alliance of Therapy Dogs and Southeastern Therapy Animal Resources for 11 years to give students a study break during the exam season, Woof Wednesday debuted in 2021 to give freshman cadets a chance to decompress during a busy school day.
“It helps them to relax,” said Ruby Murray, the library’s programming and outreach manager, “but it also tightens that connection with the services that the library offers and my ability be a liaison in terms of providing information or just a friendly face if they ever have a question or a need.”
