Students collaborate in disaster simulation exercise
Students studying health education and nursing teamed up for an interdisciplinary disaster simulation exercise led by Health and Human Performance Instructor Lindsay Jackson. Students put practical skills to work by treating patients in a disaster simulation in the Department of Nursing’s high-tech human simulation lab, practicing medical aid on both actors and manikins.
“This exercise helped them identify strategies for response during a mass casualty incident,” said Sarah Imam, M.D., who serves as director of health services, “and gave them a unique opportunity to gain insight into one another’s respective roles in these situations.”
