Readmission Requirements
Please note: Cadet readmission is currently contingent upon availability in the barracks.

Step 1: Complete the Required Application & Documents
- Application:
- Choose the appropriate readmission application:
- Letter of Intent:
- Submit a brief letter outlining your intent to return. View example letter here.
- DD214 Form:
- If you are returning from military leave, submit your DD214.
- Official Transcripts:
- Provide transcripts from any colleges attended since leaving The Citadel (if applicable).
- Medical Eligibility Form (Cadets only):
- This form will be sent to you after submitting your Readmission Application.
Step 2: Submit Your Completed Application & Documents

- Mail: The Citadel: Office of The Registrar, 171 Moultrie Street, Charleston SC 29409
Step 3: Pay the Application Fee
- Fee Amount:
- The nonrefundable application fee is $40.00, payable by personal check or money order to “The Citadel.”
- Electronic Payment Available:
- If you prefer, request an electronic payment link when submitting your application.
- Fee Deadlines:
- Fall: June 1st
- Spring: October 1st
- Summer: March 1st
- **If a deadline falls on a Saturday or Sunday, it is extended to the next business day.
- Late Fee:
- Applications submitted after the deadline will incur an additional $50.00 late fee, bringing the total to $90.00.
Step 4: Student Business Services’ (Treasurer) Office Clearance
Once your application is submitted, the Readmission Coordinator will oversee your clearance by the Student Business Services’ (Treasurer) Office.
Step 5: Infirmary Clearance
After clearance by the Student Business Services’ Office, the Readmission Coordinator will oversee your medical clearance by the Infirmary.
Step 6: Complete Required Interviews (if applicable)
If your separation was honorable or voluntary, skip to Step 7.
If you are returning after an academic, conduct-related, or voluntary medical discharge, you will need to complete an interview:
- Academic Discharge:
- Interview with the Associate Provost for Academic Affairs.
- Conduct-related Discharge:
- Interview with the Assistant Commandant for Discipline.
- Voluntary Medical Discharge:
- Interview with the Executive Director for Student Affairs.
Step 7: Receive Your Readmission Decision
The Registrar’s Office will contact you with the decision on your readmission application.
Important Notes
- You cannot register for the term you are applying for readmission until your readmission application has been approved.
- The Commandant’s Office determines all company placements once accepted.
