Welcome to the 2023-2024 Rifle Legion Leadership page. Our cadet leadership has been hand selected based on the demonstration of drill, attention to detail, leadership, and work ethic skills to ensure the most upright performance for our team.
Commanding Officer
Cadet Captain Cyla Byrd
Cadet Byrd is a member of Kilo Company Class of 2024. She was born in Harrogate, UK. She is a Psychology major with a minor in Fine Arts and is currently on a track scholarship as she runs the 100m, 200m, 4 x 100 and 4 x 400. After graduation, she plans to go back to school to earn her masters and Doctorate degree in psychology to become a counselor for adolescents.
She has been on the team for 3 years, she has been chosen to be the Commander after her experience as the Executive Officer and the First Sergeant in the previous 2 years. She works closely with SFC Greene to instill proper logistics and operations of the team.
1st Sergeant
Cadet Corporal Clayton Vande Burgt
Clayton Vande Burgt is a current sophomore and Corporal in The Citadel Corps of Cadets within November Company and current Rifle Legion 1st Sergeant. He was born in Sissonville, West Virginia and currently lives in Beaufort, South Carolina. He is currently pursuing a degree in Political Science and plans to work as a military lawyer, also known as JAG, in the United States Marine Corps.
As the 1st Sergeant of the team, he assists the commanding officer and SFC Greene to provide support in order to instill proper logistics and handle other affairs of the team.
