Rifle Legion Drill Team at The Citadel
The Rifle Legion is The Citadel’s elite precision drill team, known for its discipline, skill, and dedication to military tradition. Established in 1990, the team performs at parades, sporting events, and competitions, showcasing their expertise in regulation and exhibition drills. Members of the Rifle Legion train rigorously to execute complex rifle movements and formations with precision and unity. Their performances not only represent The Citadel’s commitment to excellence but also instill pride and esprit de corps among cadets. The team is composed of highly motivated cadets who undergo intense training to master intricate drill routines, often incorporating synchronized rifle spins, tosses, and precision marching. As ambassadors of The Citadel, the Rifle Legion upholds the institution’s values of honor, duty, and respect, performing at both local and national events. Their presence is a source of pride for the Corps of Cadets, demonstrating the highest levels of discipline and professionalism. Whether competing in drill competitions or presenting the colors at formal ceremonies, the Rifle Legion exemplifies the rich military heritage and unwavering dedication of The Citadel’s cadet leadership.
Our Mission:
The mission of the nationally ranked Citadel Rifle Legion Drill Team is to provide the South Carolina Corps of Cadets, the surrounding communities, and the State of South Carolina with precision drill expertise while displaying the high esprit de corps and professionalism by which the Corps of the Cadets is known through exhibition and regulation drill, parades, and community involvement. Sophomore Robert Torres says, “It’s very intimidating but just stay through it and you will get close with others, make a family, and be the best and win competitions like Tulane.”
