e Rifle Legion, the official drill team of The Citadel Military College of South Carolina, trains throughout the year in order to be ready for competition against some of the nation’s toughest opponents. The team practices and competes in multiple events such as: Platoon Inspection, Platoon Regulation, Platoon Exhibition, Squad Regulation, Color Guard, and Individual Exhibition. The culmination of this intense training is seen at the Tulane Mardi-Gras National Drill Competition in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Many schools that have impressive and award winning drill teams come to compete in Tulane against the best the nation has to offer at the collegiate level. The Citadel takes this challenge seriously; The Rifle Legion only gets to compete if they pass a scrutinizing pre-examination by school officials. The effort put in by the team and their supervisor shows in the first place awards they bring back in the name of the school.
