Bio
Dr. Brown received his Civil Engineering Bachelor’s degree from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Ghana. His Master’s degree and Doctoral degree were obtained from the University of Connecticut and Clemson University respectively. Dr. Brown is a member of both the National and South Carolina Section of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE). He is currently a young member of two Transportation Research Board (TRB) committees: Geospatial Information Science and Applications (ABJ60) and; Statewide Transportation Data and Info Systems (ABJ20). Over the past five years, Dr. Brown has worked on a number of South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) projects on safety, access management and traffic operations.
Dr. Brown has written and collaborated with colleagues on many engineering education publications and is currently the committee chair of the Graphics Division for the American Society of Engineering Education (ASEE) Southeastern section. Dr. Brown’s research focuses on transportation safety utilizing geospatial analysis methods. His courses of expertise are: Surveying and Geomatics, Geospatial Representation, Transportation and Highway Engineering as well as Computer Aided Design (CAD) and other Geographic Information Systems (GIS) related courses.
