Commissioning Opportunities in all Branches of the Armed Services

Through the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) program, full-time, college-enrolled students can prepare to commission in the following branches of the U.S. military:
ROTC Requirements and Fitness Standards at The Citadel
ROTC Requirements
- Mandatory ROTC Classes: ROTC classes are required for the first two years of study.
- Four-Year Commitment: Cadets pursuing a commission continue ROTC classes throughout their four years at The Citadel.
- Leadership Classes: Non-commissioning cadets take leadership classes in their final two years.
Prepare to Meet U.S. Military Fitness Standards
ROTC programs at The Citadel require cadets to meet U.S. Military fitness standards, which vary by branch. Fitness tests typically include:
- Cardio: Run times differ by branch.
- Core Strength: Sit-ups.
- Upper Body Strength: Push-ups.
