Barracks Assignment Waitlist FAQ’s
What is the purpose of the Barracks Assignment Waitlist?
In order to forecast demand for barracks space in line with maximizing the enrollment in the South Carolina Corps of Cadets, The Citadel uses a number of metrics to determine how many SCCC members are returning to campus each fall and spring. The goal is to support all current cadets who wish to continue their education at The Citadel while allowing the school to enroll the appropriate number of new students to give as many students the opportunity to join the SCCC as possible. (For Fall 2023, there is not a required $300 barracks deposit)
What metrics are used to create the Barracks Assignment Waitlist?
Students who do not follow the below actions by the priority due date will not be guaranteed barracks bed space and will be subject to company and battalion transfers or assignment to temporary housing options. A combination of factors, including cleared balances, class registration, and academic progress will be used when making barracks assignments.
Cadets must complete three steps to be assured barracks space:
Student Account Balance by March 31, 2023
Fall Course Registration by April 28, 2023
Academic Progress Requirement by May 12, 2023
Missing any of these deadlines will put Cadets on the barracks assignment waiting list for barracks assignment and puts in jeopardy the Citadel’s ability to assign a barrack space for the Fall semester in a timely manner. It is very important not to miss any of the above deadlines.
What happens if I miss any of the above deadlines?
Students who miss any of the above deadlines will be placed on the waitlist for barracks assignment and will be subject to company and battalion transfers or assignment to temporary housing options. We will track the day and time cadets clear the above requirements once the priority dates above have passed and those factors will be used to prioritize the barracks assignment waitlist. If a cadet misses any of the deadlines, and is planning on returning to campus for the next semester, they should complete the task as soon as they are able.
What do I do if I am not planning on returning for the next term?
Cadets may complete the discharge form at any time and is available in the Office of the Registrar or send an email to registrar@citadel.edu from their Citadel email account notifying the Office of the Registrar that they do not intend to return.
