The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
At the Student Success Center, faculty and parents often make inquiries about the well-being and academic progress of their students and children respectively. Much of this information, however, is protected under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Therefore, before discussing a student with parents or faculty/staff members, we must have a signed release form from the student.
