Dalton Hazelwood (MS Computer and Information Sciences)

Dalton graduated from The Citadel in 2024 with a double major in Cyber Operations and Computer Science, and a minor in Data Science. As a cadet in Hotel Company, he served as the Academic Officer during his senior year, demonstrating his leadership and commitment to academic excellence.  Currently, Dalton is pursuing a Master’s in Computer and Information Sciences at The Citadel. In addition to his studies, he works for the Department of the Navy in Cyber Security, where he applies his expertise to secure critical information systems. Dalton also contributes to the academic community at The Citadel as a Graduate Assistant, supporting a freshman lab class and guiding new cadets in their learning experiences. Furthermore, he is engaged in a data science research project under the mentorship of Dr. Joshi, focusing on innovative data analytics applications to address complex challenges.

Zachary Rockefeller (BSN Nursing, Evening Program)

Zachary Rockefeller, nursing class president of 2025, is a senior nursing student interested in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and the Emergency Department. For the last two and a half years, he has worked as a surgical ICU patient care technician and student nurse extern at Roper St. Francis Hospital and Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center.  During his employment, Zachary has gained specialized skills in patient care, critical thinking, and advanced therapeutic communication.  His professional and academic accomplishments include being named to the 2024 Citadel’s Dean’s List and contributing to nursing research for the Department of Veteran Affairs.  He believes empathy, psychological safety, and proactiveness constitute a successful nurse.  After graduation, Zachary aims to become a nurse practitioner specializing in emergency care, helping patients with acute and life-threatening conditions.  He enjoys CrossFit, cycling, and movie nights outside of work and school with his cat, Isie, and fiancée, Hallie.

Hannah Walker (MS Health and Human Performance)

Hannah Walker is currently a graduate student in the Health and Human Performance department. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Sports Science, with a minor in Psychology, from Coastal Carolina University in 2022, graduating magna cum laude. Subsequently, she obtained a certificate in Massage Therapy from Horry Georgetown Technical College in 2023. As a licensed massage therapist, she specializes in Ashiatsu deep tissue massage. Hannah is now pursuing her Master’s degree at this university to further her education, engage in research, and follow her passion for overall health and wellness. Ultimately, her goal is to become a professor and researcher in the field of exercise science.

Cadet William Boyd (BS Mathematics and BA Physics)

William Boyd is a senior math and physics major, and a member of both The Citadel Honors Program and The Citadel’s Distinguished Scholars Program. Over the past summer, he interned for the Air Force Office of Scientific Research through the Air Force Research Lab Scholars Program. He was awarded the AFRL Scholars Program’s Outstanding Scholar award for his work on optical frequency combs for free space communications. Outside of class, he is The Citadel Math Club President, a math tutor, and a member of the 2025 Summerall Guards. After graduating, he is planning to commission into the Air Force via Officer Training School. In his free time, he enjoys running, weightlifting, hiking, and reading.

Jack Cooper (BS Cyber Operations and BS Computer Science)

Jack is a Computer Science and Cyber Operations double major from Fort Mill, South Carolina. He is a recipient of the Department of Defense Cyber Service Academy Scholarship and will be working within the Department of Defense upon graduation. Jack is also a member of The Citadel Department of Defense Cyber Institute and engages in department research regarding the cybersecurity of critical infrastructure. Jack is a member of the cyber club and routinely represents The Citadel during competitions as a member of the cyber team. He also regularly volunteers in mentoring a local high school’s Cyber Patriot team. Within the corps of cadets, Jack serves as the Academic NCO for Sierra Company.

Cadet Phillips Daniels (BS Biology)

Phillips Daniels is from Columbia, SC, and is currently a junior at The Citadel. He was awarded the Palmetto Fellows Scholarship out of high school and now studies biology at The Citadel. He was named the most outstanding freshman biology major for the 2022-23 school year and plans to attend medical or dental school after graduation. He is a member of the Alpha Epsilon Delta pre-health club on campus and serves as the 2nd Battalion Academic NCO. Additionally, he is a two-year letterman on The Citadel’s baseball team and also serves on the leadership team for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes chapter on campus.

Jasmine Franklin (BS Chemistry)

Cadet Jasmine Franklin (CHEM’25) is a junior pursuing a B.S. in Chemistry, a B.A. in Modern Languages (concentration in Spanish), and a minor in Fine Arts. From Belton, SC, she currently holds leadership positions within the 1842 Scholar’s Program, Fine Arts Club, Women’s Rugby Team, and the corps. In the chemistry department, she is working with Dr. Do on research focused on the green synthesis of heterocyclic molecules with potential bioactive properties. Jasmine is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi honor society and has been honored to receive Dean’s List, Gold Stars, Commandant’s List, and President’s List during her cadet career thus far.

Roy Humphreys (BS Physics)

Cadet Roy Humphreys is a junior from North Augusta, South Carolina, majoring in physics with a minor in education. He is a member of Phi Kappa Phi academic honor society. Roy also has competed in the University Physics Competition, an international contest for undergraduate students. He is a U.S. Navy contract and will be commissioned as a naval officer upon graduation.

Hunter McDonald (BSN Nursing)

Cadet Hunter McDonald (Nursing ’25) is a senior from Easley, SC. Hunter is pursuing a B.S. in Nursing from The Swain Department of Nursing. Hunter has held rank positions throughout his cadet career and currently serves as India’s Academic Officer. He has been the recipient of Dean’s List and gold starts throughout the tenure of his cadet career. Hunter will be inducted into Sigma Theta Tau, the international honor society of nurses and was previously recognized as outstanding junior nursing student for his class. He participates part time as a tutor for undergraduate nursing subjects in the Student Success Center. Upon graduation Hunter plans on working as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department of a Level 1 Trauma Center.

David Ropp (BS Exercise Science)

David Ropp is a junior from Hartsville, SC, majoring in Exercise Science with a minor in History, and is currently serving as the 5th Battalion Sergeant Major in the Corps of Cadets. After graduation, David has plans of attending medical school and is still deciding what specialty he wants to pursue. This past summer, David had the opportunity to spend a month in Nairobi, Kenya, where he and others set up a free medical camp providing care to over 11,000 patients in seventeen days. On campus, David is active in many different organizations, giving time to the Alpha Epsilon Delta Pre-health Honors Society, Reformed Christian Fellowship, The Citadel Honors Program, The Citadel Distinguished Scholar Program, and a member of the Junior Sword Arch. In his free time, David enjoys running, hiking and skiing, as well as cheering on the Guardians and Gamecocks.

From Las Vegas, Nevada, Hunter has earned gold stars each semester since he arrived at The Citadel and has been nominated to the dean’s list. In addition, he is a member of Alpha Epsilon Delta, the Pre-Health Society, and The Citadel Eagle Scout Association. Hunter is currently doing research focused on ant behavior in the local area. Hunter intends to take graduate classes next year to obtain a Master’s degree in Biology at The Citadel by his fifth year. After graduation, Hunter plans to attend medical school with an aspiration to become an emergency medicine physician.

Cadet William Templeton (EX-SCI ’24)  grew up in Savannah, Georgia. Will is pursuing a B.S. in Exercise Science and a minor in Psychology. Will has served as Hotel Company’s clerk and India Company’s 1SGT. For his senior year he is Oscar Company Commander. He is an inaugural member of the Alpha Epsilon Delta health preprofessional honor society at The Citadel. He is a member of the Junior Sword Arch and the Summerall Guards. He has also been honored with Dean’s List, President’s Award, Gold Stars, and Commandant’s List. Will is on an Army scholarship and contract. He will be commissioned upon graduation from The Citadel in the Georgia National Guard as a Field Artillery Officer. He will be attending Georgia Southern University Doctorate of Physical Therapy Program.

Cadet Evan Stravolo (CHEM ’24) is a senior pursuing a bachelor of arts degree in chemistry with a minor in biology. Evan is from Spartanburg, South Carolina and has earned academic and character awards such as Gold Stars, Dean’s List, and President’s List throughout his career at the Citadel. Evan has conducted research with the chemistry department, working on projects that utilize metal organic frameworks to encapsulate organic dyes similar to that of current chemotherapy drugs. He has presented research at the national American Chemical Society in San Diego in hopes to inspire other researchers to find a new, efficient, and safer method of delivery for current anticancer drugs.

He is actively involved in the CS department by participating in the leadership of Cyber Club, president of ACM, and a tutor for introductory classes. Dalton is a recent Gold Star recipient and has received Dean’s List every semester, while also being a part of undergraduate research with his advisor.

Cadet Trey Stevens is a recent cadet graduate from Charlie Company (’22) with a B.S in Computer Science and Cyber Operations and a B.A in Intelligence + Security Studies and Criminal Justice as a Dean’s List and Gold Star recipient. Originating from Blythewood, SC Trey is now a M.S Computer and Information Sciences Cyber Security Concentration student working in Industry while assisting the Citadel under the Department of Defense Cyber Institute as the Cyber Technical Support Manager. In addition to this Trey has recently been commissioned into the SC State Guard under the G-2 Cyber and Intel Unit as a Cyber Forensic Analyst. He hopes to eventually get his PhD and teach one day.

Cadet Grace Duncan (PHED ’24) – Ms. Grace Duncan is from Memphis, TN where she graduated with a B.S. in Exercise Science from The University of Memphis. At Memphis, she played four years of NCAA Division I Soccer. She continued her soccer and academic career at The Citadel, leading the team as a captain in 2023, and plans to graduate with her MAT in Physical Education this May. While at The Citadel, Grace served as a GA to Dr. Sacko in the Health and Human Performance Department, assisting with research primarily on motor skill performance and assessment, cadet physical fitness, and energy expenditure. With a wealth of knowledge gained from both her academic pursuits and research involvement, Grace looks forward to applying her expertise in the field of physical education.

Cadet Alexandria Carter (PHYS ’23) is from Scranton, PA. She is actively engaged in the Physics Department and serves as a representative and liaison between the Corps of Cadets and the Office of Academic Affairs. She is passionate about service and inspiring future leaders of America and is the recipient of the Presidential Volunteer Service Award, Bronze. Carter wants to specialize in Nuclear Physics and plans to attend Naval Nuclear Power Training Command upon graduation.  She has been nominated to receive Deans List and Gold Stars.

Cadet Brent Forrest grew up in Greenville, SC and is a third generation legacy to the Citadel. He is involved in the Corps, serving as Tango’s Academic Officer, but have also been part of the Track and Field team since freshman year for pole vault. He has received Dean’s List every semester, and Gold stars 5 out of the 6 full semesters since attending the Citadel. Cadet Forrest is part of Chi Alpha Sigma Honors society as well as Sigma Theta Tau for my academic achievements. He is a nursing major and have been nominated Nursing Student of the Year two years in a row. He plans to work in the Emergency Department as a Registered Nurse following graduation and then later serve in the military and attend Nurse Practitioner school.

Cadet Ernest James (MATH ’23) is a senior in Mathematics. He recently researched Mathematical Models for COVID-19. The following is an excerpt from his research brief: The COVID-19 Pandemic has been felt across the world. The virus has left us with many questions regarding the effectiveness of social distancing and lockdown orders along with the growth of the virus. Through this project, we attempt to understand these questions in two parts: (1) Develop periodic mathematical models using the data reported in the southeastern region: NC, SC, TN, GA, and FL to determine the effectiveness of social distancing protocols in these states. (2) Create a dynamic mathematical model using the same data to predict the future trends of COVID-19.  The work of this project was presented at the 2020 SURE Conference and 2021 Citadel Student Excellence Day.

He plans to attend a Doctor of Physical Therapy program and serve as a physical therapist in the Army Medical Service Corps.

Erin Carrino grew up in Baldwinsville, NY and moved to Charleston about 8 years ago! She currently teaches 4th grade at Goodwin Elementary. Prior to becoming an elementary school teacher, she was a preschool teacher, a youth soccer coordinator and a personal trainer. She has Bachelor’s degrees in Fitness Development and Recreation, and Master’s degrees in Elementary Education and Curriculum and Instruction. Erin is an evening student in the Swain Department of Nursing and is planning to become a Labor and Delivery nurse when she graduates in May. In her spare time, she loves to exercise, spend time outdoors, snuggle with her beagle puppy and read!

Grace Duncan is from Memphis, TN and graduated with a B.S. in Exercise, Sport, and Movement Science from the University of Memphis in 2022. She is currently living in Charleston pursuing her MAT in Physical Education while completing her last two years of NCAA eligibility on the Citadel Women’s Soccer team. 

Luke Schmitz is a graduate student at The Citadel, working towards two Master’s degrees in Business Administration and Biology. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Behavioral Science from Bellevue University in Bellevue, NE. He is also an alumnus of the Defense Language Institute, Foreign Language Center (DLIFLC) in Monterey, CA, where he studied Iraqi Arabic and Modern Standard Arabic (MSA). Luke served in the Navy for eight years, during which time he deployed aboard the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower in 2016. He has received numerous military awards, including 4 Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, 2 Good Conduct Medals, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and Sea Service Deployment Award. He has also conducted over 150 military funeral honors.

Cadet Akhil Prathipati grew up in Summerville, SC. A member of the Honors Program, he is pursuing a B.S. in Chemistry with a specialization in Biochemistry and a minor in Spanish. Akhil is actively engaged on campus, serving as the Vice President of the Phi Kappa Phi Honors Society and the Omicron Delta Kappa Honors Society. Among other things, he has also served as the President of The Citadel Pre-Health Society as well as the Secretary of The Citadel American Chemical Society.He has been nominated to the Deans List, Gold Stars, Commandant’s and President’s List. After graduation, he hopes to attend medical school and serve as a doctor in the U.S. Army.

Jaret Price is a senior Health-Human Performance major from Aiken, South Carolina. Jaret is on an Army scholarship and contract and will be commissioning into the active-duty component of the Army. He hopes to commission into the Medical Service Corps with intentions of becoming a physician/administrator in the health care field. Jaret is the Health-Human Performance representative for the Swain School of Math and Science and is also a member of the Omicron Delta Kappa Honors Society. He serves as the Sierra Company Commander this year, and as the President of the Association of the United States Army. He is the recipient of multiple gold stars and deans’ lists, as well as a member of the President’s List and Commandant’s Distinguished Service List.

Cadet Alexandria Carter (PHYS ’23) is from Scranton, PA. She is actively engaged in the Physics Department and serves as a representative and point of contact for prospective students. She is passionate about service and inspiring future leaders of America and is the recipient of the Presidential Volunteer Service Award, Bronze. Carter wants to specialize in Nuclear Physics and plans to attend Naval Nuclear Power Training Command upon graduation.  She has been nominated to receive Deans List and Gold Stars.

Mandy Enloe is from Woodstock, GA. She was active duty Air Force for five years as a U-2 crew chief. She received a B.S. in Health and Physical Education with a minor in Exercise Science from the University of Georgia. From there, Enloe was a strength and conditioning coach for Embry Riddle Aeronautical University athletics. Most recently, she has been the Graduate Assistant for The Citadel’s Health and Human Performance Department while earning her M.S. in Health, Exercise, and Sport Science with a concentration in Tactical Performance and Resiliency.

Cadet Collins Langley (BIO ’17) is from Memphis, TN. He spent his freshman year at Ole Miss and decided to transfer here to pursue a medical career. Recently, Collins was selected for the Cadet Community Engagement Council to represent the Junior class of Delta Company. He has also been elected Chair of the Board for Delta Waterfowl Charleston Chapter, an ecological non-profit organization dedicated to conserving wildlife game and their habitats for future generations. Collins wants to specialize in orthopedic surgery, and has been nominated to the Deans List, Gold Stars, Commandant’s and President’s List.

Cadet Marcus Harbol (MACS ’17) grew up in Seattle, WA. At The Citadel, Marcus has been named Distinguished Freshman Math Student, competed in Math Jeopardy at the Southeastern Regional MAA Conference, worked as a tutor at the Math Lab, and served as vice president of the Math Club. He enjoys backpacking, snowshoeing, rappelling, long distance running, and ultimate Frisbee. Marcus is currently applying for an Army ROTC scholarship as well as a Department of Defense STEM Research scholarship.

Cadet Matthew C. Scalise (BIO ’16) is a member of the Honors Program, and is pursuing a B.S in Biology and a minor in Spanish. Actively involved on campus, Cadet Scalise serves as President of The Citadel Biology Club (BioCid) and Vice President of the Pre-Health Society. Among other things, he has also served as Secretary of the Tri-Beta Honor Society as well as Treasurer of the Honors Program Student Advisory Council (HPSAC). He is originally from Orangeburg but now lives in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. After graduation, he hopes to attend medical school and become an orthopedic surgeon.

Officer Candidate Brennan (CHEM ’18) enlisted in the Navy in 2006 in the Nuclear Propulsion program, reporting to Charleston for initial training. Following training, he reported to his first submarine, USS Hampton, in 2008 and served for 5 years completing 2 deployments in 2 different theaters. After this, he returned to Charleston to serve as an Instructor in chemistry, materials, and radiological fundamentals at the Naval Nuclear Power School. He was selected for the Navy’s STA-21 program, and reported to the Citadel in 2014 to complete his degree in chemistry. Following graduation he will commission, and return to the submarine service as an officer.

Sgt Alfonso Rogers (HESS) was born and raised in Warner Robins, Ga. In 2006 Alfonso enlisted into the Air Force as a C-17 Loadmaster spending eight years on active duty, bringing him to JB Charleston. He is now serving as a reservist in the 701st Airlift Squadron while pursuing his undergraduate degree in Sport Management. He has been a Gold Star and Dean’s list recipient during his time at The Citadel. Actively involved on campus, he serves as President of the Student Veterans Association and the Vice President of the HESS major’s board. Alfonso currently officiates Men’s NCAA Division II basketball and serves on the Medal of Honor Bowl committee. Upon graduation, Alfonso aspires to work in professional sports. He is a devoted father of two boys and husband to Crystal.

Cadet Dylan Green (PHYS ’16) from Woodruff, SC, is serving as the physics undergraduate student representative. He is a member of the Honors Program. He is a member of the Regimental Band and Pipes and also serves as Regimental Supply Officer on campus. He is a six-time Dean’s List recipient and received a one-time nomination to President’s List. He spent the past two years working with Dr. Robert Clark in the ExCitAtIon (Experiments at The Citadel on Atoms and Ions) Group on campus.
